how dry heat kills microbes in 300 C and autoclaves at 135 C. please clarify.?

if microbes are killed at 135 C in an autoclave for 5 minutes sterilizing time, why the dry heat process need 300 C for 3 hours to kill the same microbes.
According to me, the objective is to eliminate the microbe at a particular temperature, then why using different process need different temperatures and sterilizing time.

Answer 1/1 - Submitted 7/7/2008

During autoclaving microbes, particularly those containing heat resistant endospores are killed by heat shock as steam condenses and breaks open the cells.

The same heat resistant endospores require much higher temperatures to kill them using dry heat.

Hope this helps!
