what is psi stands for in an autoclave? I think its pressurized steam but I don’t know what i stand for. |

Pounds per square inch (Pounds/inch^2). It is a measurement of pressure. A pound is actually a unit of force, so this is saying that for every square inch, one pound of force is applied. (if you had a 100 pound block that had an area of 100 square inches on the bottom, it would apply 1 psi to the ground. This is, however, more often used for pressurized fluids that put more force on the walls that contain them as you pressurize them)
